Goodel Suspensions: Inconsistent or just getting tougher?

In writing this I have to admit some bias; I am a Buffalo Bills fan. However, I simply cannot see how the league upheld the 3 game suspension of our very own Marshawn Lynch. I am in no way attempting to condone what Lynch did by having a loaded weapon in his car, especially considering his hit and run incident the summer prior, but I look at some of these suspensions that are being handed down and they just down seem consistent with precident. Lynch gets 3 games for having a loaded weapon in his car and his suspension isn't reduced. Brandon Marshall on the other hand repeatedly beats his girlfriend and is arrested on several occasions for it and his suspension is reduced from 3 games to 1. Something doesn't sit well with me there. Obviously I wouldn't go so far as to say that the Commisioner and league are looking lightly upon charges of Domestic Violence, but it certainly looks as if they are saying that its not as serious as a gun charge. Is the league simply attempting to get tougher on its members who are convicted of criminal charges? It could be viewed that way. I am very intersted as to how the league handles Donte Stallworth's suspension as well as Plaxico Burress' suspension. There will be an update to this blog after these are handed down. Considering Michael Vick was suspended essentially an additional 6 games I'm wondering how the seriousness of Stallworth's and Burress' charges will look compared to what Michael Vick was suspended for. Time and Goodell will tell...
